5excellent  Jul 10, 2010
DeLonghi EW7707CM Oil-filled Radiator with ComforTemp Technology

VERY EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT. EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. I AM WARM AND COZY. EASY TO ADJUST AND REGULATE---I CAN HAVE AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE HEAT AS I WANT WITHOUT A LOT OF ADJUSTMENTS. IF I TURN OFF, IT COMES BACK UP TO DESIRED TEMP. QUICKLY. MAKES A CLICKING SOUND WHEN THERMOSTAT TURNS ON AND OFF.

1Heats well but smells bad  May 25, 2010
I had great expectations for this heater after reading other reviews, but my wife and I were extremely disappointed when we got the heater and plugged it in. It heated our 200 square foot room nicely, but it gave off a strong odor that I thought smelled like "hot metal" and my wife desribed as "hot oil." After talking to a friend who had a similar heater, and reading various reviews on the internet, we thought maybe it was a "new" smell that would burn off. In fact the manual states that there may be a smell that will burn off after about 2 hours. Other reviews we read were more pessimistic, stating the smell never burned off. We shared that latter experience. I put the heater out on a porch and kept in on for several days... well over 30 hours. The smell never went away when the heater was on and even on the open porch we could smell it within from couple of feet away.

4The truth about ComforTemp "energy-saving" technology  May 15, 2010
Don't get me wrong, this is a nice heater and works perfectly for our application (to heat our son's room which is located directly above the garage and thus colder than the rest of the house). I'll let the other reviews speak for most of the features of the unit.

What I do have a comment on is the ComforTemp "energy-saving" technology, which in my opinion, is just part of the whole green marketing fad. This includes making products/features appear to be green when actually they are not necessarily so. The ComforTemp "feature" does nothing more than override the thermostat dial and set the thermostat on the unit to ~70 degF. The box shows in big letters "27% Energy Saving," but if you read the fine print, it says "Based on internal tests on same model comparing energy using the ComforTemp function versus adjustable thermostat at maximum setting." So they are claiming an energy savings versus the maximum thermostat setting that would make the room way too hot. This is like saying a light bulb is energy saving because you turn it on only when you need it, rather than leaving it on all the time -- i.e., it only saves energy when compared to an absurd, high-energy-consuming scenario.

In our application, we actually save energy by not using the ComforTemp function, because we found that, with it turned on, the room gets heated to ~73 degF. We set the thermostat to a little above the "1" on the dial and that keeps the room at ~69 degF -- warm enough to keep our son from getting cold at night.

If anything, call the ComforTemp feature a convenience feature -- for those who don't want to bother with the adjustable thermostat. Call it a night light feature -- because it emits a significant green glow. Just don't call it an energy-saving feature. In my opinion, the best thing to do would be to remove the ComforTemp function altogether and just charge less for the heater! But of course the market research probably shows that if you pretend it's green you'll sell more units ...

4Toasty warm bedroom now  Apr 14, 2010
Bought this heater for my boys room that is always cold since it is located directly above the garage. The heater we had prior to this one dried out the air which was never good for my allergy/asthma boy. This heater gives a nice warm feel to the air without drying out.
Great price. I am considering buying a second one for the basement.

4Works great  Apr 13, 2010
I use this as a space heater in a 10 x 10 room and it works great. The comfort button works as designed. The heater takes a bit to warm up. It doesn't blast you with furnace like heat but it does put out moderately comfortable warmth. I would recommend it for smaller spaces.
